Flame On!

Kid Napped Back Draft

White-hot flames rage out of control, destroying all in their path,
laughing while they dance through the foliage,

Crackle, snap, and crackle

Tree leaves rattle, wild life scattering, oxygen depleting slowly;
the thick black smoke spreads its wings to embrace the wind.

Million dollar homes disintegrate while fate stares whimpering
residents in the face with cruel frowns, smiles turned upside down
keepsakes smoldering, nothing left for comfort, the pleasure of holding

What once was is no longer…

See the smoke wonder aimlessly, staggering like a drunk
out of control, out of luck, nearly out of time.

The concrete laughs at the grass, knowing it can be burned,
but not consumed, shurbbery shivering knowing its existence
is about to change into carbon dioxide.

Can there by a friend found within tragedy?

@ the top of the hill stands an angry man, trembling,
holding a broken match in his hand, smiling, enjoying
his masterful creation;

Emancipation of fire, once kidnapped, now set free.

this one comes at me a bit dreamy, a bit off the 'smooth' path but that's what I like. different somehow than many of your others. can't put my finger on it but it's cool, sometimes you just gotta get close.

it's just, real, and in a very easily relatable voice.
