Today

Misconstrued

Which mask will be worn?

Feeling arrived, varied differentiation
elevated, subsides, escalates, collides
various versions of self non-coexisting
within fleshly confines,
leaving nauseous stirring, divides,
remaining, staining both confidence, doubt to merge point,
disjoint… disappoint… ashes to re-anoint until
one regresses to membership of humanity actors guild,
dichotomy, superficially real, but obtaining
a happiness, skipping thru fields of $100 bills,
resting in cotton candy pastures,
dancing at the feet of decapitated masters,
confused, attempting to capture ever escaping joy,
erecting bust of platinum, alabaster in honor of
personal evolution, slugging thru convolution,
seeking retribution for moments lost to
destructive behavior, savor the flavor,
trailing smell of successes,
for arrant fools too have precise dreams of conquest
while utilizing arrogance of those who think little
of the thin minded, being blind-sided by lack of
sensitivity stings, which brings solace to enemies
hearts like when SHE sings the blues…

not even reflecting on the whole piece, just reflecting solely on the first sentence: "Which mask will be worn?"

people that i work with never seem to understand what i mean when i say i HAVE to keep my personal and professional identities separate. it's for the sake of my personal sanity and for the sake of their feelings. it is this same mask that protects both myself and them... ;)
