Baby Daddy (2 of 7 Daily Pieces)

Bound Freedom

He is the foundation of XX, XY,
the high, opposite the low,
the proactive juxtaposed the con,
the strong when all around are weak,
He represents the feet charged with
carrying the burdens of males who
came before, rarely celebrated,
the greatest thing since grilled
cheese sandwiches sprinkles with
cinnamon until he begins dating
again…

He is the ruination of XY,
the reason DHS is glad to see
him coming, the cause for jubilation
when incarceration is an issue,
his circle of influence, be it large
or non-existence includes his seeds
for which he would bleed, shed tears
of anger, joy, pain, pleasure
despite him being measured by
weekly, monthly, annual contributions
his value is immeasurable because
he is a father, daddy…

He is the unfortunate victim representing XY,
fell in love with a woman of the night,
futureless except she is connected to his loins,
a Goines book come to life,
Black Girl Lost,
black girl found in and around his
FICA, State, Federal taxes,
access issues, different court rooms, similar venues,
black girl missing, the reason he is truly one check
away from poverty,
reasoning why lays awake wishing he was
more than a check stub,
more than a memory in an old photo album,
more than a footnote to a life he created,
but was not allowed to raise…

She is a selfish bitch, realized, personified,
not considering actions, ramifications
effect more than her, causation, direct reason
their adult daughter endures abusive loves,
longing, wanting to find what was not allowed
from her dad…

I like when we do dichotomous pieces. You have the advantage of knowing me so you're able to see/say what I'm trying to see/say and it comes across as some pretty poignant thoughts...Let me know when we need to start work on our combined book of poetry... :)
