Destiny

A Safe Place?

Serving is an addiction,
passion, desire,
an eternal reminder of purpose,
a prompt charged with orders given,
orders taken,
orders fulfilled,
orders rarely left incomplete,
similar to halves without wholes,
coals without diamonds,
smiling minus the associated emotions,
ponder the notion of pleasing in juxtaposition
with treason for not,
leaving all efforts for not,
being revoked of the privilege ,
the thought is perplexing because
this connection was forged out of unattainable wishes,
which is equal to smoldering dreams laying scorched,
burning within the glare of white hot scoldings,
scalding from disappointments held,
expectations going unmet,
yet I now understand my place…

“Your” doormat,
at your pleasure,
here for your leisure,
how does one measure love?

One step at a time…

ironic...because sometimes i wonder if destiny could ever be a safe place. but then again, is it really supposed to be?

i also like the double entendre of being a "doormat" and measuring servitude "one step at a time..." your wit never ceases to impress me.

I enjoy reading your work so. Makes one really think about the relationships we offer ourselves up to and those who may reject the gift.
