The Lime

There is a stark difference between Mos Def, Langston Hughes,
Hip Hop, down home Blues,
Hitler Germany, holocaust Jews,
propaganda, factual news,
getting a pass, paying dues,
an explosive, the short fuse,
an attractive smile, a muse,
being denied, being refused,
angry enough to crying, being amused,
writing pieces which the author only understands,
writing pieces which alter the plight of man,
believing three minutes determines immortality,
exposing, separating truth from fallacy,
speaking prose for ego sake,
speaking thru writing in an effort to make change,
being a spoken word artist,
being an artist of words spoken,
being taking seriously,
being taking jokingly,
being the creator of the definitive collective piece,
which allows for an intellectual feast of generations
yet to come,

and

using fork tongues to garner underserved praise for
fleeting moments judged as grandiose based on applauding fractured prose,

Yes, there are truly stark differences between spoken, written,
though the motives are often hidden, this remains certain,
one is selfish,
one is selfless,
closed curtain…
